When I think about what I am going to put in my home theater when I finally get to build it I never really put much thought into the home theater lighting. I would like to have lighting that I can control with my remote that I can make dim when I start a movie to make it even more like a real theater at home.

I have heard reviews of this week’s movies already and from what I hear the only one that you really want to go see is Cloverfield.  Every other movie that came out has gotten pretty bad reviews like Cassandra’s Dream, 27 Dresses, and Mad Money.  Movies are too expensive to just spend the money on watching total garbage, so I think I will steer clear of these movies.  I am more of a ‘wait until it comes out on DVD kind of person unless it is something that I want to see really bad, and from what I read Cloverfield is the only movie that would be worth my time, effort, and hard earned cash!

Best Buy is totally evil.  It seems like I cannot ever go in there without spending nearly a hundred dollars.  Yesterday I went to get a couple of the cheap DVDs and I ended up buying quite a few of them.  I bought Daywatch because I watched Nightwatch the other night and it was really good.  Daywatch was pretty good but I really did like Nightwatch better.  This is one of the few films that I actually can forget that they are actually speaking another language with English dubbed over it.

They keep saying that Blu ray is going to be the winner in the HD vs Blu ray DVD war, so I figure if you are going to buy an expensive DVD player to play Blu ray DVDs you may as well buy a Playstation 3 which includes a Blu ray player, and there are some good looking games for the system as well.  I am glad that I never bought the HD player for my Xbox 360, that would have been a huge disappointment.  HD players are getting really cheap now that one of the DVD companies announced their allegiance to Blu ray.

Going to the movies has gotten cheaper here by my house.  You can get movie tickets to night time shows for only $6.00 and that is really good compared to the $8.75 that it used to cost.  This is a good cheap night out IF and only IF you bring your own snacks or drinks because a medium popcorn cost me $5.00 and the thing was really tiny!  The drinks and other food is really expensive as well, so you really are not getting a good deal if you buy everything there.

I forgot to mention that I went to the theater to watch Sweeny Todd a couple weeks ago, it was awesome.  The only thing is you have to know that you are walking into a musical because a lot of people are misinformed of that fact and get disappointed when people start singing.  It is an awesome dark movie though, and as long as you are OK with the fact it is a musical you will love it!  Johnny Depp delivers his usual creepy factor really well in this movie which makes it even better.  Depp and Tim Burton always make an excellent combo.

The only thing that I really want to see that is coming out this week is the movie called First Sunday, it looks really funny.  Starring Tracy Morgan and Ice Cube this movie is sure to be worth a few laughs!  Other than that I do not see much of interest to me, but for the Veggie Tale lovers out there they are also putting out a new movie this weekend.  I am very unamused with these children’s movies even though I usually like kid’s movies.  I think this is a good weekend to go to the theater to see some of the older movies though since they should not be so packed.

Hatchet is a new movie that just came out a couple of weeks ago on DVD and if you are a horror fan at all this is an awesome movie.  I cannot give any real details because it would surely ruin the movie, I am just saying as a horror fan that you need to watch this movie, it is a lot different from your regular horror movies, and it did not get much publicity at all so a lot of people do not even know about it.

I keep hearing different things about Blu Ray and HD DVD.  It seems that the war is still going, and I know personally I do not want either one of the players until one has phased out the other.  I heard that a major movie company went with Blu Ray and will not even be offering their DVDs in HD format, I really do not know what to make of it all!  I think people are too anxious to get into the next technology when I have like 500 regular DVDs already and I am not ready to switch to either one!
